My favourite films vary quite a bit. I like comedies, war films (old British classics), foreign art films, dark film noir's and the occassional action film.
Here's what I've been watching on DVD recently.....

BATTLE ROYALE

Japanese foreign movie

A bunch of Japenese classmates are drugged and awaken on an island where they find they have been fitted with dog collars that monitor their every move. Instructed by their old teacher ("Beat" Takeshi) with the aid of an upbeat MTV-style video, they are told of their fate: after an impartial lottery they have been chosen to fight each other in a three-day, no-rules contest, the "Battle Royale". Their only chance of survival in the "Battle" is through the death of all their classmates. Some pupils embrace their mission with zeal, while others simply give up or try to become peacemakers and revolutionaries. However, the ultimate drive for survival comes from the desire to protect the one you love.

AZUMI

Japenese foreign movie

In war-torn feudal Japan a beautiful woman has been raised to become the ultimate assassin. Her name is Azumi and hostile warlords are her next target.

This is a brilliant film. The cinematography is amazing, the characters and enjoyable, ok so the plot line isn't the best, but it's a really enjoyable movie. I think I'm in love.

AZUMI 2

Japenese foreign movie

After watching Azumi, I had to get Azumi 2!!!
Not quite as good as the original, but still an enjoyable sword fighting yarn.
